Ann C. Kita

Ann Kita has nearly 25 years of professional experience advocating on behalf of those who need a voice. Beginning as a foster care worker in Detroit, Michigan, she returned home to Flint, Michigan and worked at the Genesee County Family Court as a Friend of the Court officer for twelve years. After receiving her Master of Arts degree in Counseling, Ann decided to focus her advocacy work when she joined the YWCA of Greater Flint Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault program in 2011. For the next ten years, Ann dedicated her professional career educating others as an adjunct professional and as an expert witness regarding the dynamics of intimate partner violence. As the YWCA Greater Flint Program Director, Ann led the domestic violence and sexual assault program in Genesee County with their first active Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) county wide protocol. Ann is skilled in crisis intervention, therapeutic interventions, community collaboration, systems change, operational management, program development, financial management, fundraising and board engagement. Ann Kita begins her Executive Director role at Sistercare remaining dedicated to survivors of intimate partner violence and their children, assuring trauma informed services and client centered responses will be practiced throughout the Midlands of South Carolina.
