Victims of domestic violence are prisoners in their own lives, but they don’t have to walk alone. Sistercare is proud to share “Just Left of Perfect,” the organization’s first-ever short film.
Following a day in the life of a fictional woman experiencing intimate partner violence, “Just Left of Perfect” highlights the complex stressors, trials, trauma, and decisions that domestic violence victims face every day. Violence of this nature can hide in plain sight, deeply affecting victims who, from the outside, appear to have a “perfect” life.

Alarmingly, 42% of South Carolina women will experience domestic violence during their lifetime, and our state remains one of the top in the nation for the rate of women killed by men. Sistercare has been supporting domestic violence survivors and their children since 1981. In 2024, Sistercare served 3,881 domestic violence survivors and children across five counties by providing comprehensive services including emergency shelter, 24/7 crisis line, legal representation and court advocacy, rural outreach, transitional housing, clinical counseling, and health services advocacy.
